After more than 35 years in the business we are always excited to help turn your design ideas into a beautiful, functional reality. Whether that’s multi-coloured chevrons, unique cut into stone designs or bespoke, shaped matwells.
As we wind down towards the holidays, we thought we’d take a moment to reflect on some of the great entrance matting designs we’ve created for architects and interior designers this year. From large scale office installations to car show rooms and cinemas, here’s some of the team’s favourite installations of 2019:

Gyle Shopping Centre |
| |
Gyle Shopping Centre offers 400,000 sq ft of high-quality retail space in Scotland’s capital city.Home to 65 stores and 2000 retail management staff, the centre receives footfall in excess of 11 million a year. INTRAform DM was installed in a chevron pattern to create a stunning yet highly functional entrance design. The extra wide INTRAlux Elite inserts are perfect for high traffic environments, providing 5.4l/m² of moisture absorption to ensure the smooth flooring beyond is kept clean and safe. “The striking chevron design creates a stunning first impression for all the visitors entering the building and provides functional multi-directional performance for those entering from either doorway. With the challenging question of which way to run the matting, a chevron design is the ideal solution.” |

Odeon Leicester Square by Ellis Williams Architects |
| |
Another chevron design selected by three of our sales and specifications team, making it the most popular team pick of our 2019 projects. After an 11-month refurbishment, Odeon Luxe Leicester Square reopened its doors as the UK’s first Dolby cinema. Situated in London’s busy West End, the interior blends the glamour of the original art deco building with modern innovative cinema technology for a state of the art movie experience. Bronze anodised INTRAform Low Profile entrance matting combines graduating tones of grey and blue INTRAlux Elite in a stunning chevron pattern to create a stunning art deco inspired design. “An instant classic” said Joel. “The design both blends with the buildings décor and enhances the main entrance with an interesting use of colour’’ said Melanie. The newest member of the sales team, Natasha Green, chose the project for its ‘bold art deco design and creative use of colour’. |

112-116 Old Street by GPAD London Ltd |
| |
Formerly home to the Margolin Gramophone Factory, 112 Old Street was fully redeveloped to provide 27,000sq ft office space. Architects wanted to create a space that would attract ambitious start-ups and established corporates alike, using a clever design inspired by the building’s origins. A totally bespoke system using individually sized modules of INTRAflex XT were specified to create a completely unique entrance mat design that helped bring the architect’s vision to life without compromising on functionality. “The design of the mat complements the reception design perfectly, and the way it’s laid out draws you into the building.” |

The Scalpel, 52 Lime Street by Kohn Pedersen Fox |
| |
The Scalpel at 52 Lime Street was the first building to be certified ‘Excellent’ under the 2014 BREEAM standards. The distinctive shape that inspired its name was necessary to preserve the view of St Pauls from Fleet Street and is further reinforced by the partially reflective glass and bright metallic fold lines. INTRAform DM with double width fibre inserts provide maximum dirt and moisture retention to ensure the crisp design of the reception remains as pristine as the architect envisioned. The black fibre combined with a contrasting grey stripe that cuts into the flooring itself helps to unify the matting with the reception design and gently guides the visitor towards the front desk. “The Entrance Matting is simple, yet unique. The grey fibre strip continues into the flooring to create a beautifully simple design.” |
