    Durable and Cost-Effective Hospital Entrance Matting

    The busy Chelsea and Westminster Hospital needed new Entrance Matting to withstand the thousands of staff, students, patients and visitors using the main entrance. This 430-bed teaching hospital serves a community of over 1.5 million people.

    Significant signs of wear and tear were showing with the previous matting, from the volume of traffic. So, our long-term installation partners, Master Matting, recommended INTRAsystems to fit the brief of durable, cost-effective and easy to maintain. INTRAform DM was specified and installed within the same month, with minimal disruption.

    High-Performing and Hard-Wearing

    The hospital’s main entrance has two large revolving doors and pass doors to welcome people with varied mobility needs. The 75m2 Entrance Matting must be robust and high performing to cope with intense traffic flow 24/7.

    INTRAform DM is exceptionally strong, made of 100% recycled aluminium, fully DDA compliant and comes with a 10-year warranty. Master Matting installed the entire area with minimal disruption to users as our plank system is easy to install. Each section can be cut to shape for the perfect fit.

    The INTRAlux Select inserts are made of polyamide fibre and boast a 33-wear rating. The fire-retardant fibres have high moisture and dirt retention, ensuring users are safe.

    Easier Maintenance by Design

    As with any healthcare setting, cleaning and maintenance was a key consideration of the specification. The closed construction of INTRAform DM facilitates easier cleaning with regularly vacuuming and spot cleaning. Supplied in wide planks and installed in ‘lanes’, each interlocking plank can be replaced or swapped to extend the lifespan, making them a long-term and economical option.

    The combination of the double width plank system of INTRAform DM with INTRAlux Select fibre inserts is a cost-effective, absorbent option. They have a soft and smooth finish, which is great for wheelchair users.
