Layout Design
To ensure a quality finish it is essential to consider the installation during the design and specification process. Matwell framing, matwell depth and split positions will all affect on-site preparation and the matting manufacturing processes.
INTRAsystems aluminium matting and flooring systems are produced in a recommended maximum width of 2400mm, to enable ease of handling and maintenance.
For matwells wider than this it is often necessary to separate the system into sections using T-bar dividing profiles. The split position between matting sections should be where the matting is least likely to be trafficked, as illustrated below.
Operations & Maintenance
Regular cleaning and maintenance are essential to ensure optimal performance and maximise the lifespan of your Entrance Matting. INTRAsystems products are designed to catch and hold dirt particles and allowing build-up for long periods of time can reduce effectiveness.
All product guarantees are dependent on appropriate cleaning and maintenance guidelines being followed. Full Operation and Maintenance manuals are supplied with all products as standard and digital copies are available on request.
DAILY CLEANING
Normal soiling should be removed daily with a vacuum cleaner with rotating brush to help release dirt and loose fibres. We highly recommend the Sebo Evolution range with red brushes for a high performance clean. Specialist freezing sprays or gels should be used to remove chewing gum as soon as possible and a pH neutral spot cleaner can also be used where necessary.
DEEP CLEANING
The frequency of deep cleaning will depend on levels of soiling and the amount of traffic into the building. Always begin with the daily cleaning routine before commencing a deep clean.
1 – Fibre matting should be deep cleaned using a water extraction machine, ensuring a final run with clean water to remove all residue. Dry chemical systems (e.g. Host) are also effective for treating soiled areas.
2 – Closed construction aluminium channels should be wiped with a mild detergent to help free any soiling and all residue removed to maintain appearance.
3 – INTRAflex (roll-able) matting should be rolled back, section by section, and the base of the matwell thoroughly swept/vacuumed. Any debris caught in the channels should be removed and then the matting rolled back into position. Take care not to drag the matting – it is designed to simply roll up and unroll again.
PERIODIC MAINTENANCE
Primary matting should be carefully removed from the matwell and sprayed with a high-pressure water machine. Any damaged or worn inserts can be recycled and replaced with minimum cost implications.
SPECIFIC ADVICE
Use of strong cleaning chemicals should be avoided. Only pH neutral carpet detergents suitable for nylon fibres should be used such as M2 Care Ultra.
As with all matting, when subject to heavy wheeled traffic (scissor lifts/pallet trucks etc) it should be suitably protected with plywood boarding.
