Completed in 2014, the 317,000 sq ft, 18-storey Aldgate Tower is home to some of the “world’s most pioneering companies” including WeWork, Uber and Groupon.

Located on the corner of Whitechapel High Street and Commercial Street, Aldgate Tower is no normal office.

Visitors are greeted with a double-height reception featuring breakout areas, Black Sheep coffee bar and dynamic illustrated artwork called, ‘People Power’ that reacts to what’s happening in the world outside.

The 16 floors of Grade A office space above are 100% let to high profile tenants so the entrance must work hard to ensure the reception maintains its aesthetic appeal.

Designed to achieve environmental efficiency, the BREEAM “Excellent” rated building required a durable and sustainable solution that would fit visually with their clean, simple reception design.

To meet these challenges, the two revolving door entrances use INTRAform DM with varying inserts to form an effective Zonal System to optimise performance.

Externally, Zone 1 features multi-directional rubber inserts to remove course grit and moisture. As the visitor moves into the revolving doors and beyond (Zone 2), the inserts change to INTRAlux Elite fibre made from 100% Econyl regenerated nylon and phthalate-free backing to remove any remaining dirt and moisture.

The choice of INTRAlux Elite fibre in Grey 606 works harmoniously with the multi directional rubber to ensure visual continuity between the internal and external matting.

By using a Zonal System, Aldgate Tower ensures minimal foot borne pollutants enter their building, reducing the need for excessive cleaning and extending the lifespan of the interior flooring whilst upholding their environmental credentials.
