We’re just over a month into our #GetOnYourFeet competition with the chance to win a Fitbit Charge 2 and we’ve received so many inspiring entries already!

Our #GetOnYourFeet competition aims to get you up and moving during your working day, whether that’s a walk to the office, taking the stairs instead of the lift or taking a nice stroll on your lunch break, we want to help you achieve your 10,000 steps.

So why is walking 10,000 steps a day so important?

There is probably a few reasons why taking 10,000 steps has stayed so firmly in our minds. It’s not just a nice round number that we can all remember, it is a figure that has scientifically proven health benefits. The more light activity you do in the day, the better you will feel. By taking more steps you are increasing your heart rate and you will spend less time sitting, which is always a good thing. Many studies have found that walking more has a whole host of positive health benefits, including improved cardiovascular health, personal growth and can lower the risk of high blood pressure.

It was nice to receive an entry from Davina Mellon and her colleagues as they enjoy regular walks along the river on their lunch break.

Whatever you do to stay fit at work, let us know and share a picture of you staying active in your workplace on Facebook or LinkedIn and you could win a Fitbit Charge 2. It’s not too late to enter, our competition closes on the 30th November, so make sure you enter before then!
